Event Detail: Water Quality Assessment and Improvement Print E-mail

Speaker: Dr. Wendell Ela

Time: Friday, 2:00pm-4:00pm. Repeats Saturday, with Classroom 11:00am-12:00pm, Hands-On 1:00pm-3:00pm

This presentation and workshop will focus on basic measures of water composition that typically provide sufficient insight into water quality to allow initial (and sometimes final) treatment decisions to be made. The classroom discussion will be followed by a hands-on workshop where participants can try out methods and instruments for measuring water quality (e.g., bacterial counts, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, pH, ORP). In addition, about half of the presentation will discuss water treatment techniques that are applicable to use in remote or other locations requiring low tech, maintenance, and cost operation.
